Support for Sierra Wireless modems for SMS notification

This release includes support for Sierra Wireless modems for outgoing and incoming SMS messages.

  • Official support for models LX40 and RV55
    • Supports all major US carriers plus worldwide support based on radio
  • Support implemented through the Sierra Wireless UDP API available in the LX40 and RV55. Other models supporting the UDP API may also work but have not been tested.
  • Support for redundant modems
  • The modem configuration document is installed with TopView but also available here.

Security: Support for Entra ID (formerly Microsoft Azure Active Directory or Azure AD)

Microsoft Entra ID, formerly Azure Active Directory, is a cloud-based identity and access management (IAM) service from Microsoft that helps organizations manage user identities and control access to apps, data, and resources.

This release includes the following support for Entra ID:

  • Remote Viewer: Assign permission to connecting Remote Viewer clients based on an Entra ID group that the user belongs to. After initial connection, the Remote Viewer user will be prompted to log in with a Microsoft account.
  • TopView Contact: Linking a TopView Contact to an Entra ID user (maps TopView Contact fields to Entra ID user fields)

SCADA Sync

  • Tag name filter for importing tags: Added syntax for excluding tags that match (not) and ANDing multiple filters. Previous versions supported OR but not AND.
  • InTouch: new option to set the tag prefix for InTouch alarm tags
  • iFIX Inhibit tag: If the iFIX alarm tag import is configured to link to the alarm inhibit tag, the inhibit tag and value can now be configured. Previously the inhibit tag was not configurable.
  • HMI Sync: Auto-load options (alarm tag import screen)

Web Configurator

  • More options for user permissions have been added.
    • Edit permission no longer allows the user to create or delete. Manage permission added to grant create/delete access.
    • Notification Templates and Escalation Templates have been given their own permissions.
  • Main navigation menu and Home page now only displays links for pages that the current user is authorized to access.
  • Added partial support for Alarm Reports. Reports can be created and most settings can be configured, but column display and order are not yet configurable.
  • Added Sierra Wireless modem as an SMS option.
  • Added partial EntraID support for Remote Viewer and Contacts

Installation File Verification Tool

This release includes a new Installation File Verification Tool which verifies that the installed TopView application and dependency files are present on the TopView machine.

The Installation File Verification Tool

  • Is executed each time the TopView Configurator application initializes
  • Is periodically executed by running TopView Engines and will generate an Engine Health Warning if any files are missing
  • Is available as a standalone application (Configurator top menu: Tools > Support Apps)

Remote Viewer: New “Keep-on-top” option

The Remote Viewer desktop client can now be configured to remain on top of other Windows applications running on the same machine.

Alarm reports: Include report creator

Each of the 4 alarm report formats (HTML, CSV, TXT, JSON) now include the report creator. The format of the creator is: ApplicationName: domain\user

SMS Opt-in instructions (Twilio)

A new tool has been added to assist customers with the Twilio number verification process for SMS.
The new tool will generate an opt in/out screen that can be submitted as part of the verification process.
