TopView supports a redundant architecture that allows for a second TopView machine to take over monitoring if issues arise on the primary TopView machine.
The failover conditions are configurable and can include:
- The primary TopView machine is shut down
- TopView Engines are stopped on the primary machine
- TopView can no longer connect to the data server
- Monitored alarms have bad status (% threshold)
- Custom logic based on over 60 Engine health indicators (e.g. notifications failing on the primary machine)
The secondary TopView machine can detect the configured conditions and launch redundant TopView Engines in response.
The secondary TopView machine can directly monitor the health of the primary machine’s TopView Engines through:
- Watchdog tag on the primary machine (Client/Server Watchdog TCP available in v6.37 and later)
- Windows Performance counters
