Integrated Alarm
History and SMS Notification using GSM modem
We have
posted a beta (pre-release) of TopView 6.5.3
We are
inviting current and new users to test the features of this
version including:
If you are
interested in trying this beta, please send an email to
support@exele.com with
the subject "Request to try TopView beta". Please include your
name, company, and email address (if different than the sending
address)
SMS notification via GSM modem
-
Requires a GSM modem with SIM card
-
The GSM modem has a phone number and is on a
cellular network
-
TopView supports both outgoing SMS
notification and incoming SMS (alarm acknowledge and tag
info query). This is similar to outgoing and incoming email
notification in previous versions of TopView.
-
Each Contact now contains an SMS number field
-
SMS notification has been combined with Email
notification in TopView. Therefore, what was called “Email
Notification” in previous TopView versions is now “Email-SMS
Notification”
-
The Email-SMS notification settings screen
allows you to configure your email settings and GSM modem
settings (see screen shot below)
-
The recipients in an Email-SMS notification
group (the Default Email-SMS Group and Global Email-SMS
Groups) can be email recipients (email address) and SMS
recipients (cellular phone number) as long as you have
configured both outgoing email and outgoing SMS settings in
TopView. TopView will correctly send the notification to
each recipient in the group through email or the GSM modem.
Combining Email and SMS allows TopView to support both email
and SMS channels for a single alarm event.

Alarm
history integration with the TopView Window and Remote Viewer
-
The
alarm history for each alarm condition is now integrated
within the TopView Window and Remote Viewer
-
You
will see a new tab named “Alarm history” which will allow
you to query and filter the alarm history
-
If you
store the alarm history in SQL Server (new feature in v
6.5.0) you can also add comments for each alarm event
-
From
the Value and Alarms screen, you can select a monitored
point and click the [Show alarm history] button to view the
alarm history for the point.
