TopView 6.0 for OPC and PI - the next generation in Process alarming, notification, and remote monitoring software
TopView 6.0 is a major release of TopView containing more improvements, new features, and new components than any previous version. TopView 6.0 includes:

TopView Configurator
The TopView Configurator allows you to create TopView configuration files (*.cfg). Each configuration file defines the tags, operations (calculations), alarm conditions and alarm notification settings for one TopView Window

  • Updated user interface with new Global Options screen for all non-default TopView settings.

  • New email recipient drop-down (all existing recipients) when adding recipients to an email notification group.

  • Ability to edit existing Tag Group names.

TopView Window
The TopView Window is the alarming and notification engine for TopView. Each running TopView Window operates on the details of a single configuration file created with the TopView Configurator. You can run multiple TopView Windows for multiple configuration files.

  • Updated interface

  • In addition to row font color, a new "Alarm" column to signal rows in alarm (bell icon signals row is unacknowledged)

  • Values View (traditional TopView Window) or Alarms View (current alarm/unacknowledged items)

Remote Viewer (Desktop)
The TopView Remote Viewer allows TopView users to monitor TopView Windows and acknowledge alarms from anywhere on the network. The Remote Viewer can now display the Remote Viewer icon in the System Notification Area of your desktop. The icon will display new alarm messages in a pop-up bubble as they occur in remote TopView Windows.

As with previous versions, TopView 6.0 includes the TopView Configurator and TopView Window (the engine).

Two new components have been added to TopView 6.0:

 

TopView Admin Tools
Designed for detailed monitoring of running TopView Windows. Runs on the TopView machine.


Using TopView Admin Tools, you can

  • View the current operating status, values and alarms

  • View Audible Alarms settings

  • Monitor the outgoing email, modem, and voice notification queues

  • Monitor current connections from the Remote Viewer

  • View the HTML summary output

  • Monitor TopView performance details

  • Monitor all log files (application, alarms, and notification)
     

     

TopView Information Icon
The TopView Information Icon runs in the System Notification Area of the computer that is running TopView.

The TopView Information Icon can be used to:

  • View new alarms in a pop-up bubble (optional)

  • Listen to new Audible Alarms (optional)

  • View TopView Windows that are minimized to the Icon

  • Monitor the current list of running TopView Windows

  • Launch the TopView Configurator or TopView Admin Tools

     

  • Support for Windows Vista: TopView and Remote Viewer

  • OPC: Group tag reads for multiple OPC Servers

  • PI: PI Expressions: TopView can display and alarm on the result of a PI Expression (PE Syntax) including arithmetic and if..then.else expressions

  • PI: support for PI High Availability Servers

  • PI: PI-SDK is now used for all PI Server communication

  • New maximum 5000 tags per TopView Window

  • New Alarm condition: tag has good status

  • Alarm expiration setting

  • Custom return-to-normal (RTN) notification messages

  • Latch last good value setting (for bad status values or lost connections)

  • New-line character for custom alarm message (email notification)

  • Option to suspend alarm processing and notification on lost Server connection

  • Option to automatically re-start on configuration changes

  • Ability to automatically update tags and limits through scripts and custom code

  • New Logs for Alarms, Notifications and Remote Dial-in

  • Placeholder tags: can be used if the current row's alarm condition does not depend on the value a tag

  • HTML output will use the same font colors as the TopView Window

  • Optional Passive FTP transfer of HTML file

  • Output Points can exist on any Server

  • Failure to setup listening for Remote Connections will retry until successful (if port already in use)

  • FTP of HTML file on separate thread

  • Email messages now sent on a separate thread

  • Application error handlers ensure increased TopView stability and configuration storage/recovery
